very cool! and yet very geeky
Nice style and for the most part good info, however... cats should not be picked up by their scruff - ever. It can be a useful restraining hold for a violent cat, but NO CAT'S WEIGHT SHOULD EVER BE SUPPORTED BY THEIR SCRUFF. Young cats are too delicate to make a firm grasp reliably safe and adult cats are too heavy to be reliably safe.
The correct way to pick up a (calm) cat is to place one hand between their front legs (on their "chest" area) and as you start to lift sweep your other hand from behind them to under their back legs. Bring them up into a cradle position with the hand under the back legs now under the front as well. Your other hand supports their side (other side is against your chest) and pets/calms them. Unless you know the cat will not hurt you protective clothing is recommended.
If the cat is not calm lure/force it into a cage/carrier to move it.
