Real Life: January 29th - 31st

Is it just me, or are the weeks flying by at an alarming pace? I swear it was just New Year's, and now a whole new month is already upon us. Anyway, I'm looking forward to February and all the delights that it holds. Groundhog's Day, Superfoot, Valentine's Day (or anti-Valentine's Day, if that's more your style), and my birthday. Mark your calendars now, people. February 26th is reserved for FUN. But I'm getting ahead of myself. What shall we do with these last, few precious days of the palindromic 01/10?

Tonight: I'm up for dinner. I'm thinking El Paisano might be a good fit. It's the Mexican restaurant near the corner of Watson and Fyler. We've been in a bit of a restaurant rut, and this is slightly off our beaten path. They promise they will "Take Your Taste Buds on an Unforgettable Journey" and they serve jalapeno poppers, so I think that's a win-win right there.

Saturday: Bug & I are going to a very dorky baseball lunch at Mike Shannon's. I believe there will be lots of obscure statistics discussed, and ballpark food. I'm hoping for nachos! You can join us, if you're into that sort of thing. Just get to the restaurant at 11:30am to register. (See you all there, right?) Saturday eve I would probably be up for hanging out, eating food, drinking drinks. Or, if someone happens to have a copy of the first Poltergeist movie, I'd be up for watching that and having a Zelda Rubenstein tribute at my place. If you bring the movie, I'll make the popcorn. [Edit: I actually forgot that I made tentative plans for Saturday night. Call me before coming over and demanding popcorn.]

Sunday: MORE BRIDE STUFF!!!!!1!!

So that's the weekend, as I see it. How's yours looking? If you have any Happy Life suggestions, restaurants, offers to host Happy Luck pot lucks, or any other suggestions, let us know. Friday night pot lucks are the one thing I cannot host, since I work pretty late. But if you're game for hosting, throw a date out there and let's see if it sticks.

Also, sorry for being on a little bit of a Mexican kick right now. I promise next week we can have sushi or something.

I'm about to leave for a weekend in Urbana, where it is reportedly very cold.  I was instructed to bring long underpants.  See you guys next week.

It's been a good while since we've been to The Countryman. I'm up for that.

I really hope that Mike Shannon himself is there to discuss SABRmetrics with the SABRmeticians.  I further hope that someone records these discussions and makes them available as a series of podcasts.

Tonight:  Making abstract-expressionistic sounds to abstract-expressionistic moving images at the Way Out.  (Why must I always have gigs when there is fine comedy to attend?  Why?)

Tomorrow:  Studying by day.  Recording the last bits of the Strike score in the late afternoon (Wait 'til you see Raygun's CD cover art!)  Playing at Mangia as part of Googolplexia 'round 10.  Free show.

Sunday: Soccer-watchin' in the morn' at the Amsterdam.  Studying.  Bowling a frame or two at Shrewsbury Lanes at 7 with assorted Rats, People and Public Library employees.  Come and bowl with us!

The Mad Art thingy is/was our tentative plans! I'm not sure if we got tickets, though. The drag show sounds fun, but I am leery of a performance art violinist.

Had Mexican for lunch, and am still very full from said lunch, so I will probably skip dinner. Christian has a show at the Sci Fi Lounge at 8 if anyone feels like joining in on that (Not a fan of live comedy? It's still worth it for the awesomenes that is the Sci Fi Lounge!)

Tomorrow: some basic home repair stuff, gym, homework, drawing, and I would love to see some friends. 'Pants: I do not own PG, but would love to see it if you wind up finding a copy. If not, I *did* just get 'The Outsiders' in the mail today, if you'd like to see that...

Sunday: dunno yet.

You know, I don't know where the false contraction 'dunno' has its origins, but I like using a lot.

Perhaps "dunno" is a bastardization of Bil Keane's "Ida Know."

DeManda, I probably won't get a copy of Poltergeist by tomorrow night, unless someone has one lying around. I do want to watch it soon, though. I will keep you informed.

I think only a few of us are going to dinner, and since roughly half of that group can't get there till a little late, I'm calling dinner starts at 8pm tonight folks!
