Real Life: November 6th - 8th

Seems like a good weekend is stretching out before us. Bug is out of town, so I have lofty plans of knitting, watching movies I love for the umpteenth time, winterizing the garden, and reading my new book of etiquette in Jane Austen's time (how does one properly open a formal ball?). What's on your agenda?

Tonight: I'll be skipping Happy Life in favor of the Famous Fictional Villians art opening at the Mad Art gallery. I believe our own Raygun and Redbird will be among the artists featured. I hear "It goes from 7 to 11, there'll be Hors d'œuvres, a cash bar, and tunes spun by TONE WOLF." Doesn't that sound like FUN!?

Saturday: Bumming around in the day, maybe meeting some folks for dinner or drinks in the evening? Let me know if there's anything good going on. If not, maybe I will try to watch all five Harry Potter movies this weekend. Or the whole BBC Pride & Prejudice miniseries. Gotta have some sense of accomplishment, you know?

Sunday: Quite possibly hanging out in my pajamas all day.

I'm gonna start off heading toward Indianapolis, but instead of taking 270E, I'll continue on 255 toward St. Louis. And then I'll be home. And then I'll try to scrounge up some grub somewhere -- anyone up for some place good near Mad Art? -- before viewing the villains (unless this is deemed by the masses to be an inappropriate venue for a toddler).

Tomorrow night we have re-scheduled birthdays dinner with the in-laws, but hopefully early enough that one or the other of us could go out afterward if we so desired.

SUNDAY IS CORAL'S BIRTHDAY!!!!!! Hopefully she'll log on this afternoon and let us know if she has any big plans up her sleeve. Perhaps Mexican lunch/brunch on Sunday? Maybe another brick-laying party? Who knows?! But seriously, hopefully not another brick-laying party.

I won't get out of work till six at earliest, so I probably won't have my act together in time for an early dinner before the art show. If that changes, I'll give Coral a call.

I think toddlers are a great addition to any art opening, especially one with comic-style villains and real actual jail cells.

this evening:  villains!

tomorrow: finally going to get to that saturday chap book shop on cherokee.  finally.

sunday: foolish faith in fickle football rams recently restored (say that five times fast).  but they have a bye week, so i'll watch an actually compelling nfc match-up.  just as well, as languishing lambs likely would lose.

tonight:  Famous Fictional show!

i was thinking we could get dinner afterwards, but then i saw that the show does go until 11 pm.  so, hmmm?  maybe the Hors d'œuvres (copied from barbs spelling) will suffice or maybe we can get a small bite afterwards.  i know sandrina's has a late late night menu and it is very vegetarian friendly!!  i want  to say katie's pizza is open late as well.

should we plan on eating a snack before we go and getting a late night snack  after??  who's in?

saturday: the usual, sleeping in until 12 or 1, getting lunch with Ron and who knows what crazy happenings will happen when we happen upon a happenin' place??

sunday:  let us know if the birthday brunch is an open invite!

Well, I suppose I will make it down to the art show tonight. Or maybe not. Or maybe I will pretend not to go, but then go, but then hide from everyone, but in plain sight, so I can see what people are really saying about me and my work. Like attending my own funeral really.

And babies are most welcome. Perhaps we can scare Emmet straight once and for all. As far as i know, babies drink free, but that could interfere with the whole scaring straight business.

SAT: Getting up hours before chiclurgee and eating breakfast alone. Lunch, it seems. And then Happening upon what happens when when we happen upon the place where happening things happen to happen????

SUN:Birthday Brick Brunch, if there is such a thing. Brainstorming about Guy Fawkes costume.

Tonight: Reading The Letters of Samuel Beckett (first volume arrived at my doorstep today) until I fall asleep. Been working non-stop for the past 48 hours with maybe 5 hours of sleep mixed in. The long stretch of work mania that has lasted these last couple months ends this weekend, after which the Ping and I should be free to start going out on Friday nights again.

Saturday: Celebrating my nephew's birthday, which is today.

Sunday: More sleep. Laying bricks for Coral if I can get myself out of bed. Hopefully not getting sick from all this lack of sleep and walking around a client's office where everyone was getting sick.

Not that anybody's reading at this point, but if you are, birthday lunch for me at EBL Sunday at 11:00. Y'all come. Or don't.

P.S. - This is not a trick. There are no secret brick-laying projects that will be sprung on you at EBL.
