On that front, Barbara is in desperate need of some Panang Curry, and is wishing, hoping, dreaming of going to the King & I tonight. At 7:30pm, I believe.

Adam is wanting to visit Winslow's Home, but I think Barbara is not to be dissuaded. Perhaps tomorrow night? Or maybe even a Sunday brunch? I've got to build up some extra calories to survive the difficult Seattle winter.

Tomorrow I'm going to a baseball game, and Sunday I'm going to a baseball game, but those are both afternoon-ish games, so dinners, brunches, and other goings-on are hoped for around those 18 innings. Our flight gets in at 5pm, which, if all magically goes well will mean we're around for a 7:30-ish Happy Life, if others are up for that. I won't lie, I'm kind of dying for an El Burrito Loco or seven.

Saturday we're attending a Barbara's-Cousin wedding, probably for most of the whole day. The rest of the week, Barbara will have to fill me in on. I'll have some public crappy beer and chips, but feel free to bring good beer and/or appetizers.

I like to keep the specific costumes a secret, but I'm interested in a) how many costume ideas did you go through before you came up with The One and b) how hard was it to gather the things, build the parts, and get the costume together?

Barbara and I spent an evening at the Royale brainstorming through all the books we could think of. We narrowed it down to a half dozen possibilities that seemed fun, and then applied the "is it available at Target/Johnny Brock's/Schnuck's" filter to come up with our final designs. I'm going to go truly last minute and put the final costume together on Saturday afternoon, so we'll see how all that works out. It'll just give us more time to procrastinate our costumes.

Speaking of costumes, there's been a big push for a re-run of a theme of years past: Before & After. I'm up for that, but there's also possibilities like clichés, puns, dress-like-the-name-of-an-animal-but-not-the-animal, book titles, mash-up fictional characters, internet memes, etc. Feel free to vote for one and/or suggest new ones below.

Maybe you'll be busy doing that all weekend, but if not, here's what I know of tonight's plans:

Our own Prof. Hotpants will be spinning at the Royale tonight. And this year it's going to be the first, what with Halloween falling on a Friday and all. Plus, I'll be out of town the next week, and as I haven't yet perfected the robo-virtual-bionic me, I'd like to have the party while I'm in town.

So theme-wise, here's what we've got: Song titles. That is, dress up in a manner such that there is some possibility someone may see you and say "Ah, you're that one song!" Some of our regulars have suggested a penalty or punishment for overly obscure songs (I believe the ostracization goes like this: "Oh, you're that one Beck song!") but others have whole-heartedly embraced the idea of you having to explain to all of us about this one cool band you once heard and this crazy great song they played for you. So I leave that up to you.

The party, as many parties often do, is said to start at 9pm. That'll mean a lot of you won't be here 'til 10pm, but what, I'm gonna say 8pm and then someone shows up at 7:30 and I'm only halfway into my SexyBack dress? So, yes, 9pm is when I'll be expecting you. If things go as they have in the past, we'll wind down in the hour or three past midnight, likely with someone doing a go-go dance of some sort on my front porch pillar.

What is this, the 10th year?
