Game of the Week: Flash Element TD

No, that's not just a collection of html tags. First, there's a game called Element. It's what is known as a TD game, or Tower Defense. You set up towers to defend a point from bad guys (or creeps). Basically, you have to kill all the creeps before they get to the end point. This is the Flash version of the Element Tower Defense game.

 Hence, Flash Element TD.

Creeps will run in from the top left path and if they are alive and get to the top right exit they kill one of your 20 guys. You kill them by clicking on various towers (basic, at first) and placing them all around the grass areas. At the end of each round, you earn interest on money you didn't spend, and you can spend money (between and during rounds) to place more towers, upgrade towers by clicking on them, eventually research newer towers, etc. Eventually you will die.

Warcraft 3 allowed people to create custom games based on its engine. For some reason, Tower Defense games were the most popular style of custom game. I guess it has the appeal of puzzle games like Tetris, but it seems a bit tedious to me.
