Real Life: May Day! May Day! (May 1-3)

I will celebrate workers' solidarity by working. How about you?

I'm posting a bit early this week 'cause I don't think I'll be able to post on Friday, and I want to get some info out:

Glamwreck and Cobra are in town!

Friday: I think I might actually get out of work in time to HL--someone should call me and let me know where we wind up. I call no Sameem, but that's all the opinion I have about that.

Saturday: Working in the daytime, so I will be missing the big Derby Day party at the Royale--are any of you making a big, fancy hat to wear the the race? In the evening, I think the plan is to come over to my place to hang out with Glamwreck and Cobra--maybe we can potluck it, or maybe we can order out, or maybe we'll all just change our minds and wind up somewhere else, as plans are still a bit tentative. I'm sure we'll figure it out, but I wanted to let you all know what was up thus far...

Sunday: Working, followed by not working.

How 'bout ch'all?

This just in: On Sunday night, I may go to this:

Webster University Film Series Presents

Friday, May 1 at 9PM and Sunday May 3 at 8PM

KNOW YOUR MUSHROOMS

(Ron Mann, 2009, Canada/USA, 73 min.)

Know Your Mushrooms follows uber myco visionaries Gary Lincoff and

Larry Evans

(two of the more expert and unforgettably mercurial characters in the

community) as they lead us on a hunt for the wild mushroom and the

deeper

cultural experiences attached to the mysterious fungi.

Tonight: Hopefully venturing out into the world of HL, depending on PCJr.Jr.'s nap schedule and mood. Do we get to see Glamwreck and Cobra tonight, or do we have to wait? Also a month or 2 ago, Duane said he was considering having a May Day party, so maybe there will be a party downstairs?

Saturday: If anyone's interested, it's supposed to be Tower Grove South's neighborhood-wide yard sale day. Otherwise, gardening and thinking about dinner at Demanda's. Take-out seemed an elegant solution last weekend, but potluck would work too. Oh, and also it's Cinco (Tres) de Mayo on Cherokee, so might check that out.

Sunday: Suburb-ing it up with a BBQ at our neighbor's place - we're finally attempting bonding with 2 sets of neighbors that have lived 2 doors down (on both sides) for several years, but we've never really talked to.

Tonight: We've family dinner plans. There's a chance we'll meet up with people if stuff is happening in the later hours; there's a greater chance we'll fall asleep first.

Saturday: Working during the day. Placing 7th place or thereabouts at a trivia night thingy.

Sunday: Attending my great-aunt's 90th birthday party.

Looking forward to festivities next weekend!

So the Bug is out of town this weekend, and I will be spending it either out and about, if feeling social, or hunkered down in the girl-shack doing girl things like home mani/pedi, dying my hair, reading a biography of Mary Queen of Scots (far trashier than any romance novel), and/or watching "Bridget Jone's Diary". If I do, however, get up the gumption to go out on the town here's the plans...

Tonight: Dinner at Mangia? Eh? What do you think?

Tomorrow: Cinco de Mayo on Cherokee. Parade starts at 1pm. Kentucky Derby party at the Royale. Music starts at 3:30pm, the race begins at 5:04pm. Then, there are a whack of Art Shows back on Cherokee, from 7-10pm. My former painting instructor and co-worker, Gary Passanise, will be showing at Snowflake. The Typo Cafe will host live music with Macro Meltdown and friends starting at 9pm.

Sunday: rest and recuperation.

HA! "Jone's". That's how I'm spelling it from now on.

This all sounds real good. As usual, I have no idea what Claire ( I can't call her by the name she uses on here, because I don't even know what it means.)is interested in or whatever plans might already be made.  I'm kind of a silent partner in that regard.

Tonight: Mangia is always good. I'll try to stay in the loop about that.

Sat: Working all day (both of us) but wanting to make it to Snowflake, etc. in the PM.

Sun: Working (me) and trying to salvage a sliver of weekend after dealing with dead Finns and MFA nightmares. (Not to mention the indulgent "aesthetics" of Rirkrit Tiravanija. Yes, I spelled that right.)

Hmmm... Mangia does sound cozy on this drab day...
