Superfoot XI

For those of you too cool to read the Onion House's Myspace blog, you too are invited to Superfoot XI, held at our place. It's a chili cook-off, so bring your best vegetarian or meaty chili (preferably in crock-pot form). If you're not the chili-cooking-type, bring something that goes with chili, like beer. Or other stuff that's not alcohol, like oyster crackers, or a few pounds of cheese. Prizes will be awarded in three categories:

 • Best vegetarian chili
 • Best meat chili
 • Hottest or weirdest chili that's still edible and can be agreed on to be "chili"

Superfoot is Sunday, February 4. The kick off is, I believe, at 5:00, so feel free to show up anytime after, say, 4:00. Y'all come. We ain't got HD, and I don't think there's a Puppybowl on Animal Planet this year, but it will be a good time anyway.

I guess we're not setting any pre-defined area within which an edible object needs to be to qualify as chili? That's going to make it tough to judge.

I made some wicked jambalaya the other night. Various Englishpersons who ate it thought it was chili, and I couldn't adequately explain why it wasn't, other than that it had celery and thyme in it, which to my mind chili usually does not. They were stuck on the tomato content; they'd never heard about white chili.

Oh and: yay Chicago! I have an interview on the morning of the 5th, or else I'd watch the game from this side.

Yeah, we got a vegetarian cookbook (http://www.amazon.com/Accidental-Vegetarian-Delicious-Eclectic-Without/dp/1844032760/sr=8-1/qid=1170014913/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-7885089-4493563?ie=UTF8&s=books)

from a friend who moved to Manchester recently. I made the aubergine chili, and felt that, while it was pretty tasty, those Brits don't really know the meaning of the word chili.

By the way, if anybody who's coming to Superfoot wants to give us a heads up on what you're bringing, it would help us out with the planning and the buying and whatall.
